Handicapped-accessible holidays in Sweden
Travel in comfort and safety.
Wheelchair users and people with impaired mobility can travel to Sweden safely and comfortably with TT-Line on the Travemünde–Trelleborg and Rostock–Trelleborg routes.
Suitably wide lifts take passengers from the car deck to the upper decks. Two cabins that have been adapted to the needs of disabled travellers can be booked for overnight accommodation or for resting during the day.
In Sweden
Scandinavia is not only more family-friendly – it also caters much better for the needs of disabled people. Much of the accommodation and many of the tourist attractions have wheelchair access. Many regional tourist offices publish special information brochures for disabled travellers. A comprehensive, very informative brochure is available from VisitSweden.
The Turism för alla (Tourism for All) organization provides information about handicapped-accessible tourist destinations in Sweden and abroad. Among other things it publishes the Swedish Resa utan hinder (‘barrier-free travel’) directory, which contains holiday ideas for people with impaired mobility. Anyone who does not speak Swedish and would like information and tips before travelling to Sweden can contact the organisation.
As part of its Equality programme, the Tourism for All organisation also keeps an inventory of disabled tourist facilities. Look out for the Equality sign. Certification means that Tourism for All has checked the facilities for accessibility.
