NILS HOLGERSSON
NILS HOLGERSSON is a character in a novel by the Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf. Selma Lagerlöf was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1909 for her story "The Wonderful Adventures of Nils“. Not only was this the first time the Nobel Prize had gone to Sweden but Selma Lagerlöf was also the first woman to receive this accolade. NILS HOLGERSSON is a small boy who is transformed into an elf, as punishment for being lazy and rude. 13 wild geese are given the task of looking after him. The geese depart for a flight across the whole of Sweden and take the boy with them. Together they live through many adventures. After a long journey, little Nils finally returns home. Thanks to his bravery and his courage he is once again transformed into a normal little boy.
PETER PAN
Published in 1904, the story of "PETER PAN" by the Scottish author James Barrie remains one of the most successful and fascinating children’s novels ever written. The little boy PETER PAN is determined not to grow up. Rather than growing and becoming more sensible, one night the boy and his friends decide to fly to the so-called "Never-Neverland", where they can enjoy a life full of adventure without ever having to grow up. Soon his friends get tired of dwarfs, elves and fairies and return to the world of adults where they all grow up. PETER PAN never returns. Instead he finds eternal youth and visits children and adults in their dreams and takes them to "Never-Neverland" for a few hours at a time.
